About Me

I am in Architecture by trade, but photography has been in my blood since I was a young child.  My dad was a hobbyist photographer for the better part of his (way too short) life, serving as photographer for his yearbook in High School, and working for his college paper.  When I was probably only a toddler, he built his first darkroom in a part of our finished attic, where I learned more than I ever wanted to know about stop baths and developer.

Once I was old enough to make my own decisions (really a lot later than it should have been), I was drawn back to photography.  Luckily, the digital revolution was well under way, and I purchased my first digital SLR.  With my two amazing boys providing loads of inspiration and opportunity, I’ve had fun exploring various techniques (both in studio and on location), always looking for ways to improve my skills.

Based in Holly Springs, North Carolina, I’m always on the lookout for interesting lighting opportunities, taking inspiration from David “The Strobist” Hobby, Dave Hill, Joe McNally, Tim Tadder and Joel Grimes, among others.  I also enjoy the post-processing portion of photography, focusing on retouching, adding effects, and some HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography.
